Introduction to Content Repurposing

Welcome to this training module on content repurposing—your key to maximizing the potential of every piece of content you create. In this session, I will guide you through the process of transforming a single video into a wealth of valuable content. The beauty of content repurposing lies in its efficiency, allowing solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, startups, influencers, thought leaders, or rising professionals to extend their reach without investing excessive time or resources.

Our focus today is to understand why video content, despite your level of passion for videography or filmmaking itself, can be a goldmine for content creation.

Why Video Content?

Video content serves as a versatile starting point for repurposing because of its rich and engaging format. With just a single video—consider a 10-minute piece, for example—you have the potential to produce a myriad of content pieces. At Cajun Up To Marketing, we support clients by condensing four days of work into six to twelve months' worth of content which can then be shaped into social media posts, clips, memes, blogs, newsletters, and more.

Now, let’s simplify this idea and concentrate on generating five pieces of content from one video to make the concept more approachable.

Converting Video to Multiple Content Forms

Imagine you've just completed a live stream where you've shared your top three tips for creating engaging video content. You've conducted the live stream proficiently, integrated intros and outros, and interacted with your audience—all within about 10 minutes.

Here are the steps to turn this video into five distinct pieces of content:

Step 1: Create Short-form Videos

First, you'll edit your long-form video into three short clips corresponding to each tip discussed. Each of these will have a brief introduction, the main content of the tip, and a call to action at the end. This yields three pieces of targeted content.

Step 2: Produce Written Content

Next, transcribe your video. You can use services like Rev.com or a transcription tool such as otter.ai. Remember, transcription shouldn't be used as-is; it requires refinement to align with written language standards.

Now, refine each tip's transcription to convert it into a blog post. This entails correcting grammar, adjusting the style to be more suited to reading, and ensuring clarity.

Step 3: Develop a Newsletter

With your written blog content, extract the essence to craft a newsletter. The newsletter can direct your email list to either the full blog post or the original video.

Step 4: Create Social Media Posts

Utilizing tools like Canva, create social media posts from the key points in your video. Use templates to keep your brand consistent and schedule these posts across your channels.

Step 5: Extend to Podcasts

Finally, consider converting the audio from your long-form video into a podcast episode, providing another avenue for your audience to engage with your content—whether they're in their car, on a trip, or commuting.

Understanding Platform Specifics

In the past, we refrained from posting identical content across different platforms. However, algorithms change, and your message might reach different segments of your audience on various platforms. Don't hesitate to distribute your content across these channels, ensuring to adapt it slightly to suit each platform's norms.

Summary

This session has walked you through transforming one video into five distinct pieces of content: short-form videos, a written blog post, a newsletter, social media posts, and a podcast. By repurposing content, you not only save time but also cast a wider net to capture your audience wherever they may be.

Tips for Improvement

Reflect on your transcription to identify and rectify frequent speech patterns or fillers like “um” and “so”. This self-review will enhance your public speaking and content creation, leading to more effortless repurposing in the future.

Next Steps

For your next training activity, apply the content repurposing techniques mentioned today to your existing content. Notice how each form communicates with your audience and the added reach you achieve through this multiplicative strategy.

We hope you find this training valuable and that it empowers you to make the most out of your content.
